Legendary PWD of Bamenda received baptism of fire this
Saturday at home that is on the Bamenda Municipal Stadium as the NW regional
division kicks off. P ton ton as they are locally called suffered a 0-1 defeat from metamorphosed Nkwen
Fc now Grassland FC at the opening of the Regional Championship in a game that
many P fans expected to serve as the rallying game since they were already very
sure of a victory. This assurance was further motivated by the fact that they
were playing at home and literally owned the supporters. Though they gave their
all it was insufficient to stop the determined grass cutters who had stared
their finest for the opener. Due to repeated pressure on PWD a penalty occurred
at the last quarter of the first half and was transformed into a goal giving
the visitors the lead. The remaining four quarters of the game were marked by
had tackles and counter attacks from both sides but however yielded no fruits
as the goal line stood at 0-1 in favour of Grassland. As the team celebrated
their victory information got to Bakahonline that Ndifor Lesley the team’s
country President was involved in a ghastly motor accident on his way to
Bamenda for the game. Though his car is reportedly beyond repairs he is said to
have sustained to brushes which does not but his life at risk.
Bakahonline wishes him a speedy recovery.
