Chia Clovis |
Here lie the remains of a young man whose name we got as Chia
Clovis. He was found dead early Wednesday July 2, 2014 on the entrance to PNEU Foncha
Junction Bamenda with blood flowing out from his head.
On arrival at the scene after a tip-off from onlookers, bike
riders and concerned citizens had assembled. Some family members, Clovis
mother were on another side crying and saying a few words aloud cursing anyone
who might have killed their son.
Seeing security officials, this reporter immediately went to
find out what has happened. To the first security officer, the matter could not
be discussed. I then immediately went for the second who told me on condition
of anonymity that Clovis was shot by one military officer in self-defense after
he (Clovis) and two others attacked him early this morning.

This information however sharply contradicted public opinion
and physical observation noting that Clovis was seen caring plastic bags and a
piece of foam. His Virgin-land neighbours say he is a bread seller at a travel
agency in Bamenda and was heading to sell bread to travellers who might have
arrived town early in the morning. Clovis is also putting on slippers and
regular dresses for people in his kind of business. While a few others think
all of these including his bread business could be a disguise, relatives say he
left the house this morning getting to 5am as usual meaning there is no way he
might have been involved in a robbery attempt. At departure time, Clovis was
still lying where he met his death and noting was said about investigations.
Insecurity it should be noted has been on the increase
around Foncha Junction and the PNEU entrance in particular as confirmed to us
by a resident Barister Azumbi Renee who has been a victim of three attacks in
one week.
Foncha Street is a popular street in Bamenda known for
hosting many well-meaning Cameroonians in terms of riches and function! Yet security
and waste management along the street is still a major concern.
