The Member of Parliament (MP) for
Bamenda-Bali Saturday September 13 2014 kept his word following an announcement
made during the August midterm evaluation session of the Bamenda III Council. During
the session Hon. Fobi Nchinda Simon informed councilors of his intention to
hand over his Parliamentary Micro project grants in Bamenda III Subdivision on
the said date. He further said this year’s grants will be to assist orphans and
unprivileged children in his parliamentary constituency of Bamenda-Bali.
This promise came to pass as 100 children,
their parents and guardians assembled on the esplanade of the Nkwen Fon’s
Palace to receive their support.

Welcoming
the beneficiaries, administrative, municipal,
and traditional authorities, Con. Asobo Mbuyah Samuel Chairman of Parliamentary
Micro Project Committee (PMPC), described Hon Fobi Nchinda Simon as a man of
his words. According to the PMPC chairman, the MP has kept his word since he
went to parliament in 2007. While announcing that there were 100 beneficiaries,
Pa Mbuyah as he is popularly called noted that they were selected by councilors
who made sure the beneficiaries truly needed the Support. Though appreciative
for the little available, Pa Mbuyah called on government to increase the
8million francs which he described as too small to meet the needs of the entire
Bamenda-Bali Parliamentary constituency made up of four subdivisions with close
to 700,000people.

the MPs efforts in the promotion of

Addressing the handover ceremony attendees, Hon Fobi addressed four main issues amongst others:
Hon Fobi N. Simon Addresses Handover Ceremony Attendees |
1. The Recent
increase in Fuel Prices: While explaining that the increase was due to foreign
pressure for government to remove fuel subsidies, Hon Fobi opined that it was a
right but belated decision. To him the 5% increase in civil servants salaries
as a control major was poorly done. The parliamentarian observed that it was going
to be more meaningful if the addition was done in a triangular manner with the highly
paid having less and lowly paid having more.
2. The Boko
Haram insurgency: to the MP Cameroonians are in a state of insecurity reason
why vigilance should be a key element. Here he enjoined everyone to make an
effort to identify all in the neighborhoods.

4. The Grants: Himself
being a half orphan as early as seven when he lost his father, the MP said he
had a responsibility to answer to the needs of the orphans. He encouraged the
children to see themselves as nation builders and must take their studies
serious. He assured the beneficiaries of his total support when the need
arises.
