Northwest Regional league Adopts FECAFOOT new Statutes as Assembly Dissolves

Mr Fortibuh Hilary Ist Vice President FECAFOOT NW addressing Assembly

A conclave to adopt the statutes of the Northwest Football Regional League held this Tuesday 16th September, 2014 in Bamenda. Chaired by Mr Tambe Jonathan member and representative of the standardization committee of the Cameroon Football Federation, the extraordinary session of FECAFOOT Northwest reviewed the statutes adopted last august 31 2014 in Yaounde by the National Assembly of the Football association.
Examining the modifications made on the new statutes, Mr Tambe amongst other things looked at the expulsion of Trade associations, outgoing members of the council and specialized associations which thus excludes any other person from the general assembly except Club Presidents. This is what practically caught the attention of the delegates to the assembly with some of them making these reactions:
To the referees’ representative, Nchinda Charles, excluding them from the new formation of FECAFOOT makes them an independent association with the rights to make demands to whoso ever before offering their services. He further added that when they get into their association they will make bylaws which must be respected by FECAFOOT before they go for matches.
To Kiyam Jean Baptise, a team representative observed that no football match takes place without the players, coaches or referees and so excluding them from the general assembly is just a blow to Cameroon football development.
In what sounded like a partial conclusion from the delegate s on the issue Njoko Evaristus, representative of coaches, observed that the decision has come to make the coach-Team President relationship more tangible. According to Coach Njoko, if coaches still have their bearings with them then they must request contracts before coaching anybody’s team. He further requested that with the insinuations made by the statutes relating to the formation of the specialized associations a time frame be set for everyone to get on board.
Prior to this debate, Mr Kaba Christopher, FECAFOOT Secretary General, explained that the new statutes is aimed at allowing only those  who are into the management of football  to be at the general assembly and wipe off the anarchy that has hitherto characterized the federation.
In reaction to all these, the standardization committee representative said, all the worries will be forwarded to hierarchy for examination but for now he added this statutes should be adopted for implementation while work continues to look into these worries.
This then gave way for unanimous adoption signaling a new take off in football in the Northwest. According to the representative of the standardization committee of FECAFOOT, the region now has no FECAFOOT assembly as this one that adopted the statutes has been dissolved except till next month when an extra ordinary elective assembly will be convened”.
Quizzed on why use the Top-Bottom approach for the adoption of the text, Mr Tambe explained that time was not on their side particularly with pressure from the Federation of International Football associations FIFA, and the Confederation of African Football CAF.
Coordinated by Mr Kaba Christopher, NW FECAFOOT secretary General, the General assembly rose with the announcement of Mr Tambe’s program of movement in the region to perform similar exercises at Divisional level which begins Wednesday.
To many observers who sat through the session there is the possibility for pressure groups to now crop up against the management of Cameroon football.
