Senior Councilor Rita Ndiagang |
Senior Councilor John Fondzenyuy from the Foncha street council constituency of Bamenda III has been voted to replace Late Madam Bati Rose Lailam. The elections took place Friday Saturday 10th of April, 2015 during the Administrative and Management account session of the Council. Prior to his election, hilltopvoices gathered that four candidates applied for the post; Senior Councilor
Councilor Miriam Ngweni |
Councilor Julian Tapendri |
SDF Emissary to the Session |
Mayor Fongu Welcoming Officials |
The
examination of the Administrative and management Accounts of the Mayor and his
Treasurer as well as Secretary General was the activity that consumed much of
the time spent in session as Mayor Fongu Cletus Tanwie had to sufficiently
explain to the Councilors how he raised and used the FCFA 400million handed
over to him in 2014. While blaming the reduction in Taxes by the Government,
Mayor Fongu said FCFA 355 302 252 was raised. This amount was however not spent
in its entirety as the Total expenditure stood at FCFA353 249 372. With this
Mayor Fongu Cletus announced that there is a surplus of slitely above FCFA
2m.

scholarships, supply of Didactic Material to schools (minimum package)
Assistance to GS Alahlie, Holiday jobs, the functioning of the Middle school
which practically stopped due to lack of incentives for the teachers, the

Works
and Transport: The Con George Muforza led committee looked at the road network
development within the municipality with the general conclusion that much work
has been done. The committee however noted that if actions to acquire equipment for road construction by the council as planned could be executed soon it will go a long way to improve
on the road situation.
On the Sidelines
The
boundary palaver between Nkwen and Bafut, Nkwen and Bamendakwe and Nkwen and
the Tubah Council came on for discussion with a strong call for the Senior
Divisional Officer for Mezam to look into them seriously and soon before it escalates
to a stand-off. A similar complaint about the Bambili people also came up from
Nzah People with the attention of the SDO highly needed.
The
Secretary General of the council also reported that all decisions arrived at
during the last session were all approved by the SDO for execution.
