Our Continuous Coverage of the SDF @ 25
The Front, SDF publication on Anniversary Day |
I saw a copy
of this “The Front” newspaper at the close of the Silver Jubilee celebration of
the SDF and told myself may be proper reasoning is setting in here. I quickly
grabbed my copy to appreciate the content. Silver jubilee messages and adverts are
plenty from party officials and some very good write-ups and reflections. Interestingly
enough it was a publication of the Social Democratic Front SDF. Kudoos
I start with
this before I forget. Was there an anniversary magazine that I did not see? If
there was none then I submit my discontent and if there was any kudos again.
It is common
knowledge that for 25years Cameroon’s Leading Opposition has not been able to
own a media organ for the education and information of militants. Efforts to
this effect have been made with some dyeing at birth. But what is the problem? Can
this be about the will to own one? Can it be an oversight? Can it be negligence?
Can it be lack of finances? Can it be lack of personnel? Can it be Lack of
competence? And ………Well surely not all of the above.
For what I know
at the head of the party’s communication department is a fine journalist
Anembom Munjo assisted by a cream of seasoned journalists and communicators
hence it cannot be about competence. Their articulations on state TV; the CRTV
tells of a group ready to do all for the party so it can definitely not be lack
of the will.
The party or
party official runs a printing press where many Bamenda based newspapers print.
This is a great asset for the party. If the problem is money they can print on
credit distribute to district communication and publicity for sales in no time
money will be available to pay back the printing press and prepare for the next
publication. Like the party is funded partly by the generosity of some party
officials, I am sure no official on the SDF ticket refuse to assist an SDF
communication outfit be it Newspaper, Magazine, Radio or TV station. Any of them will obviously be a good public
relation tool for them. I therefore do not submit to any thinking that it could
be about finances.
Well talking
too much is not a good virtue but I am sure I was writing not talking anyway.
So what is
the Problem?
