Special coverage of the SDF @ 25
He seems to
be the hidden face behind lots of things within the SDF but before that it has
been said even in the press that he may likely be the next leader of the Social
Democratic Front SDF. Like his father in the 90s Benjamin Fru Ndi A. is
practically the attracting force for many people into the party.
For reasons
of more friendly reading allow me use Ben for Benjamine Fru Ndi in our subtitles.
Ben and Wife
This May 26,
2015 during the March pass to mark the Silver Jubilee of the party he led a
large contingent of young people alongside his wife. From the March pass they
moved on to the residence of his father where together they entertained the
many who showed up for the closing dinner. It is the same way we are told the
SDF National Chairman John Fru Ndi and Wife Rose Ndi moved together at the
creation of the party.
Ben and the
people
Our Cameras
caught him on several occasions having handshakes with all types of people; the
old, the young, the rich, the poor, the well dressed and poorly dressed and so
on. What was of interest to us was the fact that he bows at every greeting. If this
can be homily then it is likely he may be going for a little more because his
father as we are told was the go getter who had very little time for humility
though available and even now.
Ben and the
Media
In 1990 the
media was not as available as is the case now. Today the media organs are many
but strangely enough this young politician still finds time to address issues
concerning the youths and the party at every moment. Even on social media
Benjamine Fru Ndi will not ignore a comment that downgrades the SDF. He steps
in to put it right. When the state media refused John Fru Ndi in the 90s,
Africa No1, The BBC, RFi gave him the voice and that he used very well. They look
same here I am sure.
Ben and
Local Politics
As it is now
Benjamin Fru Ndi is a Councilor with the Bamenda II Sub -divisional Council. He
is a Senior Councilor of the Bamenda City Council by virtue of his election
into the City Board by his fellow Councilors of Bamenda II. Ahead of the 2013
municipal elections, predictions were that he will be Mayor of Bamenda II well
that was not the case. The issue here is his father Ni John has never shown
interest for any office other than that of the President of the Republic or
Senator. They look similar because the run for elections but I am sure the
level makes them different.
In his
Message to the Youths on the Silver Jubilee of the SDF Benjamin Fru Ndi said “… I think Young people should join
politics. They don’t have to fold their arms and think some other person would
raise their concerns, their frustrations, the way it could have been. The young
people have the right and obligation to develop Cameroon. They don’t need to
sit and blame anybody for is not going right in the society”
There can be
more to this but let’s leaves these ones for now and begin to think about an
SDF without Chairman John Fru Ndi. He will still be there for some time but certainly
not forever.
