The
Bamenda City Mayor addressed as the Government Delegate says he and the Bamenda
City Council offered Fokou Company a building permit to construct on the site
in Mile four Nkwen currently being referred to by the Bamenda III Sub
divisional council as Marshy land.
Ndumu
Vincent Nji was speaking on a local radio station in Bamenda Tuesday morning in
reaction to the protest lead by the National Chairman of Cameroon’s most
populous opposition party The Social Democratic Front SDF on the non-respect of
Land Tenure and State lands laws on the construction site.
According
to the Delegate, his technical services did all necessary studies based on the
files submitted by their applicant here Fokou before offering him the building
permit. He says he does not regret the action and is not prepared to withdraw

Mr
Ndumu while wondering what took the SDF Chairman to the site stated that when
he completed the plan for the City of Bamenda a project he cost at over
50million, he took to the Chairman for appraisal and all he could say was to
ask that there should be farms every. “Can farms develop Bamenda?” he questioned
“Why
is the Chairman getting into this matter and making it political? This man has
proven beyond reasonable doubts that he has the technical ability to manage
this place… however I am not prepared to go back to my decision” he said.
He
acknowledged receiving a call from the services of the Senior Divisional Office
for Mezam manned by Nguele Nguele Felix to attend a meeting in his office. “I
will not attend such a meeting” Ndumu shouted.
