YOSA and
Union meeting
YOSA VS UNION |
This Sunday August 30, 2015, Yong Sport
Academy YOSA, Bamenda's lone division One team will receive Union of Douala in
a day-32nd fixture of the professional league One in the Mankon-Bamenda
municipal stadium. Already classified a top match by the professional league,
the game is expected to be a real clash of arch rivals. Keeping in mind that
Union has never lost a game in the Bamenda municipal stadium against YOSA, the
Bamenda team prepares to receive Union with a strong determination to get a win
particularly after a 3-1 win inflicted by Union on YOSA in the reunification
stadium in Douala.
Since the ascension of YOSA into the elite
league, both teams have met Nine times; five of them in the Bamenda municipal
stadium and four in Douala. Only three of these meetings have ended in a draw.
In the nine meetings six wins have been produced four of them in favour of
Union of Douala and two for YOSA. Five of these nine meetings have been in
Bamenda with Union keeping firm control of them all and recording no defeat in
the Mankon Stadium meaning YOSA has never beaten Union in the Bamenda stadium.
Both teams
this Season
Currently, Union is ranked second with
56months while YOSA is ranked 7th with 44months. Both teams have been able to
score on average a goal in every game this season with YOSA scoring 33 times
and Union 39. Both attack lines have shown a strong affinity for goals making
the defense lines the areas of interest. While both defense lines have shown
some signs of weakness with YOSA considering 31 goals and Union 22, the game
promises to be highly contested particularly with Union's interest for the
leadership position.
Professional
League declares game TOP MATCH
Classifying the game top with other games
like New Star vs Cotonsport and Botafogo vs Astre during the 32nd day of play
is not surely a mistake. Never have YOSA players express discontent with a
defeat like the 3-1 they suffered in the hands of Union this season in the
reunification last 17th of May, 2015. Many of them have blamed YOSA's inability
to go continental to that game in Douala. Though none has talked of any plan to
retard Unions plan of going continental, it is certain the Bamenda team will
want to fight back as much as possible to at least get a win against Union in
Bamenda if not for any thing but to change records.
Who is
concerned?
Cotonsport of Garoua will certainly have an
interest in the outcome of this game mindful of the challenge awaiting them in
Douala against New Star. Should Cotonsport be beaten in Douala and Union beat
YOSA in Bamenda, Union will certainly become league leaders. What is common
between CotonSport and Union on this crucial day is that both teams are playing
away and are badly in need of victories to take leadership two days to the end
of the season. Probabilities are that both games may produce draws and consequently
the statuesque will remain the same.
HISTORY
Created as far back 1958, Union Sportive de
Douala has five First Division League titles, is Six times winner of the Cup
of Cameroon, One time winner of the African Cup of Champions Clubs, and winner
of the African Cup winners Cup. YOSA on their part were created in 2004 by the
late Bobe Yong Francis and play in the 5000 capacity Mankon Stadium. The
Bamenda team qualified for the top flight championship in Cameroon in 2009
after winning Zone 3 of the National Division Two Championship. As a division
One team, YOSA finished 5th in 2009-2010 and 2011-2012, 4th in
2012 and 8th in 2013 seasons. On the 22nd of December,
2013 YOSA beat Canon 4-1 after post match penalties to win the Cup of Cameroon
for the first time.
These teams know themselves quite well and surely Sunday's game will not be easy.
