Orange Cameroon “the Corporate Citizen” Education for All Program 2015

“Orange Cameroon is a corporate citizen that remains firm in its conviction of the importance of investing in the future of young people through its Foundation.”  These where the words of Elizabeth Ehabe Secretary General of the of the Orange Foundation during the launching of the Orange Foundation’s Education for All Program Monday September 14, 2015, in Government Primary School Chomba.

According to the Secretary General since 2009, the Orange Foundation in her Education promotion “has helped over 100.000 children across Cameroon gain an education by: constructing and rehabilitation school classrooms and toilets, providing safe drinking water to pupils and students and providing scholarships and school supplies to vulnerable children.”

Taken over from the Basel mission in 1992, Government Nursery and Primary school has remained same like many other public schools across the country kept aside for below average or average families with little or no means to get appropriate schools kits. With a very similar situation Vouzah Paul Head Teacher of GNPS Chomba speaking during the launching described the donations by Orange Cameroon as a timely panacea particularly coming at the start of the school year. According to the Head Teacher, the donations will make work easy for teachers, help children of parents with no means to get text books and help the school keep the record of 100 percent obtained in public exams in the last six years.

Speaking earlier the Third deputy Mayor for Bamenda III Sub division showered praises on Orange for being transparent and apolitical on the choice of where to hand extend their goodwill. Corroborating, Fon Susan Nyanga Northwest Regional Delegate for Basic Education acknowledged the construction of water system toilets in the region by Orange Cameroon. To the delegate “Orange Cameroon is giving Education in the Northwest Region a great push and alleviating poverty.”
While acknowledging that it is difficult for parents in Chomba to buy text books for lack of means, the Fon of Chomba HRH Forbuzie Martin Asanji called on his people to consider themselves lucky to have been chosen by Orange Cameroon as takeoff of their Education for All Program for 2015. To the pupils and staff, the Fon exalted them to maximize the use of the school kits.

Before symbolically handing over the kits to a few of the pupils, Northwest Chief Clerk at the Governor’s office Absalum Monono acknowledged Orange Cameroon as a reliable development partner. He disclosed that seven other schools in all seven divisions of the Northwest will benefit from the gesture by the Telecommunication giant.
The Chomba event marked the start of a program deployment that will see over 13500pupils in primary schools across Cameroon receive text books and workbooks in Mathematics, English and French. In all, the entire program is expected to put over 36000 books into the hands of pupils in rural areas who are likely the least to have access to text books.
“Dear pupils, you symbolize our hope for a better future for all Cameroonians. We count on you to work hard and in the future contribute to the development of your community. We commend you, parents and teachers, for placing the education of your children as the highest priority.” Elizabeth Ehabe said.

Created in 2009 Orange Foundation a component of Orange Cameroon has as mission to assist disadvantaged communities throughout the country gain access to basic services such as: Education, through programs like the Education for All and vocational training programs; Healthcare, through the programs to support institutions that cater to the needs of disabled persons and the maternal and childcare programs; Hygiene and sanitation, through the construction of latrines and boreholes in schools, hospitals and in vulnerable communities.
