It
has been a challenging 2015 Season for Bamenda’s lone Division One Team Yong Sports
Academy YOSA. With a handful of plans and targets at the beginning, the Bamenda
team finished the season with a 1-0 win over Njalla Quan Sports Academy. The
win enables YOSA to finish the season on the 8th position with
48 points.

WINS
Out
of the 48 points that YOSA ends the season with, 39 of them were obtained from
13 wins: eight of them in their Bamenda playground and five away. YOSA’s highest
win this season was their 4-1 defeat over Botafogo FC in Bamenda during a
Day-30 fixture on the 26th of July, 2015. Their 3-0 defeat of Astre
on the 15th of January 2015 in Bamenda cannot also be taken for granted. Away
from Bamenda YOSA beat Dragon 1-2, Njalla Quan 0-1, Tonnerre 0-1, Bamboutos FC
0-1 and Fovu of Baham 0-1.

DRAWS
YOSA
got nine points from Draws with six of them in Bamenda and Three away. Some of
the draws the team will remember with discomfort include 1-1 with Bamboutos FC,
1-1 with Canon of Yaounde and 1-1 with Botafogo Fc.
DEFEATS
This
Season YOSA lost 12 matches three of them at home and 9 away. While many see the
team’s 0-1 Day-1 defeat by Lion Blesse of Foutuni as a catalyst to their
success during the first round, the 0-1 defeat by Fovu of Baham is seen as the takeoff
of the eventual end of the team on the 8th position. The team will
remember with regret their 3-2 defeat by Astre FC in Douala after they had
taken a 0-2 lead and watched with disbelieve as Astre came from behind to draw
level and eventually carried the Day.
Goals
and Players
In
the 34 matches played, YOSA scored 34 goals averagely recording a goal per match. 13
of these goals came from team captain and lead striker Kongnyuy Jude who will
definitely be among the best scorers in the Country for the Season. He is one
of the few players this season who received the prestigious player of the month
award from the National Trade Union of Cameroon Footballers. Moghu Ghislain,
Awonu Junior, Ojong Ekuri, Nkamfu Gilbert, Ayamba Cyprain, Laiver Burinyuy and
others scored at least a goal during the season. The season ends with the team’s
attack ranked fifth following the number of goals scored. The team considered
33 goals; a situation that has been largely blamed on injuries. Mawobe Ntube
are Epah Theiry are some of the teams
lead defenders who suffered major injuries keeping them out of competitive football for
a good number of matches.
Technical
Staff
Kamgue
Justine started and ended the season as head coach of the team. Kome Thomas, Toguem
Jean Baptist, Suh Magelan assisted him as goal keepers trainer, training
assistant and Medical staff respectively. To the head coach, the team gave all
what they could and got what they got. As the league ends with maintenance as
the only thing to celebrate, Coach kamgue still believes that all is not gone
for the season as the Cup of Cameroon remains one of his targets.
Management
The
President General of the Club Yong Jack has shown an unprecedented willingness
to keep the club alive as his late father and Founder of the Team would have
done. Out of the 34 matches played by the team, Yong jack attended over 25 of
them particularly away from home. The President made sure match bonuses and salaries
were paid on time. He provided a listening ear to both the technical staff,
players, supporters and the media with crisis meetings convened when necessary. Not satisfied with the results obtained however,
Yong Jack expresses signs of determination as the Cup begins and as the new
season approaches.

History
YOSA
was created in 2004 by the late Bobe Yong Francis and plays in the 5000
capacity Mankon Stadium as their home stadium. The Bamenda team qualified for
the top flight championship in Cameroon in 2009 after winning Zone 3 of the
National Division Two Championship. As a division One team, YOSA finished 5th
in 2009-2010 and 2011-2012, 4th in 2012 and 8th in 2013
seasons. 2015 the team has finished 8th.
The team still keeps jealously their record of
the 22nd of December, 2013 when they beat Canon 4-1 after post match
penalties to win the Cup of Cameroon for the first time.
