St Michael’s Parish Futru Nkwen will on Saturday January 23,
2016 host a Priestly Ordination with the highest number of priests in the
history of the Parish. In a bid to make the history making event exceptional, preparations
have been going on at every level. Apart from financial contributions, reports
from across the parish say Christians have been praying for the deacons who
will soon received the sacrament of Holy Orders as they are called to the priesthood.
Speaking during one of the Sunday Masses in the Parish Sunday
17, 2016 Rev Fr Hypolite Wirnkar who is Parish Priests noted that the even
requires special attention from Futru Christians because two of the Deacons to
be ordained have for the past months been working in Futru Parish and after
work will stay in the parish till transfers are made.
Rev Leonard Wirnkar who
assisted in the Mass which happened to be his last Sunday Mass as a Deacon was
encouraged to pray hard and get ready for his Ordination.
While the Deacons will be moving into a closet from Monday January
18, 2016 till the 23rd when they will be seen again publicly,
Christians of the Parish will continue with donations and prayers till Friday
22nd when a Solemn Vespers will take place in the Parish main Church
ahead of the Ordination event proper.
Earlier this week Rev Fr Evaristus Atem Superior of the
Central Africa province of Piarist Fathers could be seen around Futru together
with other Priests surely to ensure a hitch free event.
The Deacons who are counting their last days in that stage
include: Rev Leonard Wirnkar, Rev Antoine Theirry Edang, Rev Frankline Litika,
Rev Amos Tume, Rev Clement Tsanga and Rev George Nkomo all of the Order of Pius
School (Sch. P).
