The North West Regional Olympic Committee has
observed the 2017 Olympic week from June 19-24 with the theme “we are the
people of the Olympic generation.”
Amongst the activities organized to mark the week, the regional committee carried an educative quiz on radio stations in the regional headquarter; Bamenda.

Amongst the many participants who called the various regular sports programs on the selected radios, less than 16years old Ndifor Elvira a High School Student from Mbengwi demonstrated a strong mastery of the subjects raised scoring 9/10. Her immediate follower Tonsong David will emerge with a score of 5/10 then Tegum Daniel with 3/10.
At the Nkwen Baptist Center during the final
day of activities June 24, the winners were handed over tokens in appreciation
for their mastery of Olympic values.
“The Theme for this year’s event is being
celebrated under the context of the present crisis that Bamenda is facing and
we are calling on everybody to follow the Olympic spirit to be people of the
Olympic generation because the theme tells us that we are people of the Olympic
generation. We should try to live all the Olympic values fair play, love
respect in whatever thing we do and in whatever thing we find ourselves so that
we maybe able to come out of the present situation and be able to live our
lives in much happiness. People are called up to practice sports activities at
least three times a week to be healthy and to be strong because that also is
every important. I feel very happy with the participation from the radio quiz
and the closing day activities.” Tubuo Emmanuel Secretary General of the
Regional Olympic and sports committee told this reporter.
At the final commemoration ground to watch the
closing event marked by a volleyball game between Noble Volleyball team and NW
veterans was Awemoh Charles the Regional treasurer of the Olympic Committee and
Choves Loh the Regional Public relations officer who all expressed satisfaction
with the event.
