The Member of Parliament MP for Ndu/Nkambe
parliamentary constituency in Donga Mantung Division has reiterated the need
for the President of the Republic Paul Biya and other international
institutions to convene the much talked about national inclusive dialogue as a
way to address the armed conflict in the North West and South West regions.
Hon
Esther Ngala was speaking in Bamenda Wednesday 23 during a ceremony to donate
to some Internally Displaced Persons IDP.
Literally in tears, the MP explained
the difficulty her constituents and others in the NW/SW are though lamenting “I
see my children, I see my sons, I see my fathers trekking having nothing to eat
and having no place to sleep. I felt depress and thought that I should share
the little I have with them. Even if it is only one savon because in Ndu and Nkambe
savon is about 500 and 700 while should I not give them. They don’t have rice.
You can cook rice with red oil. I decided to give them food that they can eat
without meat. They don’t have money there is no market. There is no transportation
from Bamenda to Ndu or Nkambe. So I am crying for my people that they are
suffering.” She said
On the need for peace to the return to
the restive North West and South West regions, “Let peace reign in Cameroon. Let
dialogue reign in Cameroon. My question is “what is the UN doing? What is the
AU doing? What is the Commonwealth doing do they want all West Cameroonians to
die before the come to assist us? She questioned and pleaded “I am pleading as
a parliamentarian, as a woman, as a mother that my youths have died enough.”
Speaking earlier during the event,
Chris Mbunwe President of the Wimbum Cultural and Development Association
WICUDA cautioned the IDPs to avoid poor dressing and drinking, unnecessary
phone calls when in public places, avoid running away from soldiers as some of
the basic rules to observe during moment of crisis.
Chenwi Mary Magdalene SDF vice
Regional Chairperson for the NW praised the MP for reaching out to IDPs from
everywhere and not necessarily from her constituency. While praying for divine
providence for the donor in return for gesture, she maintained that her party
believes in taking care of all reason why the National Chairman John Fru Ndi
earlier made donations and has continued to do so.
Hon Esther Ngalla also created time to
visit some large families like Fons who have been forced to flee with their
wives and children and are now settled in Bamenda.
Since the start of the armed conflict
in the region, many have fled their homes in search for safer areas as the
crisis goes worst by the day.
