The North
West League of the Cameroon Football Federation FECAFOOT league has unveiled a
strategic plan intended to rebrand football in the region.
The plan was
presented Saturday March 2, during the General Assembly of the Football
federation in Bamenda chaired by the Regional league President Mbigha Felix by
the Secretary General Ndi Tsembom Elvis.
According to
the plan which takes into consideration the armed conflict in the region, the regional
executive headed by Mbigha Felix as president will ensure that all “teams
participating in the this year’s championship will back home 20 free licenses”
a decision the SG said “is not obtained anywhere else in the country.
The plan
also announces “a grand celebration at the finals of the regional interpools”
which for the first time in the history of the competition in the region will
have trophies and special prizes handed to winners and animators of football in
the region. This, the SG explained will be to ensure that the league is
competitive for better national performances.
The league
has also developed strategies to improve youth and feminine football in the
region with the target being to “produce a Division One Team this year.”
Following instructions
from the National office, the NW regional league is also prepared to “run all
competitions under which FECAFOOT is charged with organising” one of them being
FUTSAL. The regional league has thus open the competition to licenced football
with a call for club presidents to ensure the effectively participate.
To be able
to solve the under representation equation in the cup of Cameroon eliminatory
due to smaller number of clubs taking part in the competition compared to other
regions, the regional league has challenged Divisional league presidents “to
engage clubs at their level to partake at the cup of Cameroon.”
With the
hope of playing a 22 team regional league this season, the current leadership
of FECAFOOT hopes to increase the number teams 32 in the nearest future
possible.
Ending the
regional championship by May 20 latest, the region has planned training
courses for referees, coaches and sports journalists all intended to improve
the practice of the beautiful game in the region.
The regional
league executive has also resolved to move out of the old structure at Finance
junction to a hired new befitting facility along Fons’ street Bamenda with the
hope of delivering better services with the hope of acquiring a new league
office in the days ahead.
The National
Executive Committee Member for the North West Dinga Joseph used the general
assembly to encourage regional club presidents and other stakeholders to
consider the arrival of the new leadership of FECAFOOT NW as a new dawn. With
lots of questions coming from club president on different subjects, he
maintained that it was the first time club owners were taking the leadership of
the regional federation adding that the leadership feels the pain of club
owners and that all will never be the same again.
The regional
league also used the general assembly to install the electoral commission of
the federation, received resignation letters from club Presidents who have been
elected into the regional executive and other offices as well as review last year’s
activities.
