event Saturday April 20 in Bamenda.A JohnMaxwell Team Trainer has certified and graduated seven young people who have completed training on the 16 leadership Values in a learning process that has been styled “catch the wheel of leadership.”
According to
the certified John Maxwell Team Trainer Immaculate Bih, her decision to train
the young people started after she received the “transformational curriculum
for youths in Orlando Florida, USA during the international John Maxwell
Certification program last year 2018” and was “was convince the program was
going to transform youths” in her community.
Addressing
the Catch the Wheel of Leadership event, Immaculate Bih explained that it was
immediately after her return to Cameroon that she started the initiative of
exploring for Free the leadership values learned with two groups of youths in
Bamenda with the first being young people below 13 and the second youths above
13.
“Today, we
are proud of the result we see. The graduates now think creatively and there is
a positive shift in their habits…..these are the youths who will make the
difference we all want in leadership in our communities, country and Africa.
Leadership is a skill and the time to learn it is now…. If we allow the youths
to get to leadership positions before learning how to lead, the errors of
yesterday in leadership will continue today.” Immaculate said
Prior to the
handing over of the certificates to the young leaders, the Director of the
Bamenda based organisation, Community Development Volunteers for Technical
Assistance CDVTA Cameroon delivered a keynote address. According to Njuakom
Francis everyone has the potential to be a good leader but to this potential
must be added the right attitude. He encouraged the graduating leaders to
develop values like discipline and education by avoiding the things that
constitute a distraction from their dreams.
He will later during the certificate event announce the readiness of
organisation which hitherto had concentrated in the well being of the elderly
and development of community infrastructure to support the initiative.
“This
weekend I was privileged to attend the graduation ceremony of 7 distinguished
leaders aged between 5years to 12years. Tears of joy flow down my chicks when
my dream for Africa and Cameroon in particular became a reality thanks to the
leadership of a great mentor and leader Immaculate Bih and her Team.” Event
attendee Sama Ndofor posted on Facebook.
Immaculate
has encouraged families and communities to join her saying “let us start to
build our Nation now by investing in the leadership development of the youths.”
Intake of the next set of trainees is underway.
