So far, the teams that are in
Bertoua are familiarising themselves with the beautiful synthetic green turf of
the city’s municipal stadium where all games will be played despite the final
touches being done to ensure the national football jamboree is staged in the
best conditions.
The delegation of the Cameroon
Football Federation FECAFOOT that arrived Bertoua on Thursday has been working
with the local league and the administrators to finalise organisational issues.
There is an enthusiastic crowd
that is turning out to watch them train in the stadium that prides it’s self as
one of the best playing turfs in the country.
The tournament opens this
Saturday with a thrilling encounter pitting Olympique de Bewong Bane from the
South Region and AS Dibamba representatives of the Littoral Region.
One of the teams that could have
gladly participated in the tournament is Volcan du Noun from the West Region. They
lost their place to Rivier du Noun from the same region following a protest
filled against some players of the club at the close of the season in the West.
The team that was already in Bertoua waiting for their opening game this
Saturday 24 had to carry their luggage back home due a decision by the
homologation committee of Cameroon Football Federation FECAFOOT made public
Thursday August 22 disqualifying them.
