Community Impact for Africa (CIfA) has handed over certificates of congratulating to some Bamenda community based developers in recognition of the work they do in their Community to improve the lives of others.
The certificates were handed to those
recognised Saturday 26 October 2019 at the Baptist Centre Hall Nkwen during
CIfA’s commemoration of this year's day of the elderly. Community Impact for Africa (CIfA) has handed over certificates of congratulating to some Bamenda community based developers in recognition of the work they do in their Community to improve the lives of others.
Speaking at
the event, NW Regional Delegate for Social Affairs Madam Nkwate Rebecca said
this year's theme emphasis on the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration
of Human Rights and that the idea behind the theme is to create awareness and
put in place services that will improve on the well-being of the aged. She also
said this will help them cope with the present challenges while preparing the
youths towards old age.
Celebrated under
the theme "The Journey to Age Equality", CIfA used the International
Day of Older Persons, to acknowledge and recognize some 17 older persons
who received her during her outreach activities as well as those aged persons
still contributing significantly to community development in their various
communities through the CIfA award.
Participants
who were mostly of the ages 55 and above were enriched with three main
presentations on Non Communicable Diseases by Dr. Njume Epie of the Cameroon
Baptist Convention Health Services, the role of the aged in Peace Building by
the CEO of Beacon of Light Assosiation-BeLa Madam Ndze Eleen and the role of
the Aged in Conflict Mediation by the Co-Founder of Hope for the Needy
Association-HOFNA Madam Munteh Florence.
In an
address presented by the CEO of CIfA Ngwanwi Lidwina Munting, the audience were
made to understand that the theme Journey to Equality calls for equal
distribution of rights, opportunities and responsibilities despite the
differences in race, beliefs, ethnic background and age. Ngwanwi Lidwina also
said CIfA has designed a programme known as "Dream Life for the Aged"
aimed at providing for free household assistance to the ages through her
monthly outreach events.
Community
Impact for Africa it should be said has carried out three outreach events in
the homes of some aged persons in a bit to promote an elderly friendly
community and to ensure a happy and healthy aging for all.
The event
Coordinator Freida Nemkul Gelam, Co-Founder of Community Impact for Africa, the
CIfA Award enlightened the audience on the different programmes under which
CIfA carries out her activities namely the Youth Empowerment and Mentorship
programme, Dream life for the Aged, Sustainable Initiatives for Development and
Impact Her Africa.
According to
her, CIfA is out to create safe spaces for all while bridging the gap between
all ages with her core values being dignity and respect, innovation, dynamic
leadership and Volunteerism.
The event
was graced with singing and dancing by the elderly which set the pace for a grandiose
celebration . Based on her vision, CIfA still envisages a couple of activities
geared towards realising her goals as an association and believes in the words
of Nelson Mandela who says "A society that does not value older persons
denies its roots and endangers its future".
