PWD Social Club of Bamenda Wednesday November 6 comfortably defended herself in front of a mixed home crowd against city rivals YOSA FC at the Yong Sports Academy Stadium in Nkwen Bamenda during one of Day five fixtures of the Elite One professional championship.
Ade Mienolf’s talismanic opener at the 50th
was sufficient to clinch the day’s three points for Coach David Pagou’s team. It
was a conclusion of several challenges mounted against YOSA’s defense including
goalie Fuh Blaise who literally had an off day despite a clean sheet
performance against Feutcheu FC of Banjoun during day four fixtures.
“The players were
reminded that they lost their last match and they had to win against YOSA which
they actually won.” Coach David Pagou
told the press
YOSA’s offensive attack did all possible to slow
down PWD’s defensive momentum but failed. PWD convincingly reached the 90th minute line
with a 1-0 lead ending the game with a win.
The win according to coach
Nkabyo was merited. “We
congratulate PWD, they played a good game and we will prepare for the next
game. We did all we could but we had a good team against us and they won. We
just have to play our next match well so that we can bounce back after our
defeat in the hands of PWD Bamenda.” He said
Coach Nkabyo’s boys offered some resistance especially
with the exploitation of all three substitutions available but could not get
even a draw against PWD.
PWD will be travelling to Garoua to face
Coton Sport; a fixture Coach Pagou already sees as difficult. “Our next match
is in Garoua against Cotton Sport of Garoua. It is going to be a difficult game
but a point will be like a win for us.”
YOSA will be
at home to welcome UMS of Loum.
The following results were recorded
nationwide
UMS 1-0 Stade Renard
Panthere 0-0 Bamboutos
Union 2-1 Avion
Apejes 3-3 Dragon
AS Fortuna 1-2 Eding
Feutcheu 2-1 Fovu
Two fixtures will be played this
Thursday
Coton vs Colombe
Canon vs Tonnerre
