Sons and daughters of Bambili Village in
Tubah Subdivision Mezam Division of the North West Region Saturday December
14th welcomed with unprecedented euphoria the dawn of a new era with the coronation
of a new Fon.
The
coronation event opens a new chapter in the history of the Bambili fondom as Awemo
Charles ascends the throne with the choice name for his reign being Afungchwi
III as the 15th Fon of Bambili. Colourful as it was, sons and daughters of the
university felt comforted by the welcome accorded their new king at the Bambili
palace courtyard by not fewer than ten North West traditional rulers amongst
who were the Fons of Ngen Muwah, Bambui, Ashong, Nkwen, Kedjom Ketingoh.

Though
the brief traditional enthronement rites were central to the day's event, the committed Presbyterian Christian, an Elder, a dedicated member of the Christian Men
Fellowship and other Religious values the new ruler encarnates gave enough reason
for an ecumenical Church service which allowed friends and villagers celebrate
the King in songs and prayers.
Messages during the service presented in more
ways than one His Majesty Afungchwi III as the God anointed man to move Bambili
forward in peace and progress. Rev. Pastor Wayi Emmanuela's sermon was
sufficiently motivating with the hope of inspiring the new Fon to emerge as the
King of Peace, Unity and Reconciliation.
It was a college of Presbyterian, CBC and
Catholic Pastors and Religious who prayed for His Majesty Afungchwi III to be
exemplary in leadership for it is in the Bible that when the righteous are on
the throne, the people rejoice.

Rev.
Jum Ignatius, the PCC Moderator's representative in what sounded like a prayer
of dedication prayed God to lead the new Fon in best ways so he can lead the
people of Bambili according to God's dictates. It was a rare moment for
Christians of the PCC who sounded off about their Christian member as the
chosen one to promote, protect and preserve the customs and traditions of
Bambili.
The
Fondom that hosts the Bamenda University of the future has over 40 quarters.
Fair weather was on duty when on behalf of North West Fons, His Highness Teche
Njei handed a Bible to the new Fon as an instrument for a reign that reassures.
The King makers of Bambili were challenged to become King helpers and villagers
inspired to stand solidly by the Fon for God's purpose to be fulfilled for
Bambili and their people. His Majesty Afungchwi III succeeds His Majesty
Tamukum II who disappeared some ten months ago.

The new Fon described by many as the new hope
for Bambili is a retired Senior Servant of the Ministry of Transport. He is
credited as a fine mixer who excels in Public Relations.
