The African Football Confederation (CAF) center of excellence in Mbankomo near Yaounde was the center of attraction on Saturday March 27, 2021 as day four matches of the Elite One Championship went underway.
After suffering a humiliating 3-0 thrashing at home on match day three, Bamboutos FC of Mbouda entered day four with an exceptional determination to win. Coach Djam Laurent and collaborators took on Yaounde II FC with an uncommon desire to clinch all three points. A goal and another despite a reduction from the Yaounde contingent could not help as the Mangwa boys claimed all three points.
Fovu opened score for the second game but a quick reply from Dragon will keep the second fixture in Mbankomo on a 1-1 tie.
A deadly Cotonsport will make nonsense of Tonnerre of Yaounde TKC hammering a 1-4 defeat on the Yaounde ambassadors on Sunday March 28. Strangely, TKC scored first but an extraordinarily fast pace Garoua team became too strong for Tonnerre with Gueme Ariana hitting the back of the net three times; a hat trick.
While Yong Sports Academy (YOSA) FC ended their losing record of the season with a 1-0 win against Astre of Douala in Bamenda, AS Fortuna maintained their unbeaten run in Melong humbling homeside Stade Renard 0-1.
Two virgin draws emerged from Mbankomo and Bepanda where Eding and Union as well as Avion FC and Djiko FC confronted each other. The much attention directed towards the two fixtures produced no goal but at least a highly contested encounter and good class football.
A physically good APEJES FC of Mfou from the first minute to the last in Mfandena gave their visitors New Stars of Douala a tough time. With experienced Dande Jr on goal, a single goal from APEJES was good to give them the much sort after three points.
The game pitting UMS and Canon are yet to be played.
