The people of Tabenken village
of the Wimbum tribe resident in Bamenda and elsewhere in the country on
Saturday April 10th 2021 offered a
special mass to thank God Almighty for the life of their Fon, HRH Ngwayi
Polycarp Ndiborti. This was at the Bayelle Catholic Church-Bamenda.
During the highly attended Mass spiced by the Wimbum choir of Bayelle Catholic Church, Rev Father Valentine prayed to God for more blessings, protection and long life for the Fon of Tabenken and his people.
The Mass was followed by a colourful cultural manifestation and musical performance at the Fon's palace annex at Ndamukong. On hand were the Royal dance of Tabenken-Kisheh, Neih of Tabenken, and others. It also featured special performances from DJ Damasco- a popular Wimbum folklore singer and the very Chris Njowe.
In a short address to the people of Tabenken, Fon Ngwayi Polycarp Ndiborti appreciated the kindness of his people towards him. He called on them to continue having the welfare of their village at heart and remain united as one people
The chairman of the organising committee Ta Shey Hilbeltus in a key note address thanked all and sundry who answered present at the rare event.
"Our numbers here is a sign of our loyalty to the throne and a clear proof that what brings us together is more than what separates us", he said
Harping on the necessity of the event, Ta Shey said, "HRH we have seen the hand of God in your life, your leadership, your steadfastness and God's healing and protection on you. This inspired us to offer a Thanksgiving mass for our father as gratitude to God."
"Tabenken is writing a new page of her history with lots of achievements that we cannot enumerate here. We pray that the risen Lord takes away our weaknesses and bless us with love and understanding with much needed forgiving spirit", he furthered
86-year old Fon Ngwayi Polycarp Ndiborti has ruled Tabenken since 1989. He just recovered from an illness that kept him down for long.
