It has been an eventful day seven of the top tier championship in Cameroon. While the much anticipated center regional derby between Canon and Tonnierre Kalara Club TKC produced no goal, Yong Sport Academy of Bamenda and Avion FC of Nkam had a fulfilled day displaying goal scoring abilities uncommon to them since the start of the season.
At the Douala Bepanda reunification stadium, six goals were scored in the two matches played. It practically rained on Union Sportive of Douala as Avion of Nkam though on away basis poured balls into the net of their host. The man of the day was Mfegue Geroges hitting the net twice. The relegation threatened sides took the extremes with Union failing to score and Avion scoring more than expected. Astre and UMS during the second fixture settled for a 1-1 draw. As dedicated as both sides seemed, their affinity for goals was far below average..
In Bafoussam, it was another bad day for the Mangwa boys as Fovu of Baham became too strong for Coach Djam Laurent and his men. Rapidity, accuracy and resistance were the basics that helped Fovu subdue Bamboutos 3-1. The West regional clash generated anxiety just like the score generated curiosity.
Coach David Pagou lead trainer for PWD Bamenda led a group of victory hungry men to the Fotso Victor stadium in Bandjoun to face home side Djiko FC. The current champion openned score, then got a reply from their host. Before it was full time, Tchindo John Bosco in an intentional move hit the back of the net to hand over some precious three points to the Abakwa boys. They have kept their unbeaten record alive for the season as they return home for day-8 matches.
At the CAF excellence center in Mbankomo, six goals were scored though all two fixtures ended in a draw. Souley Badamassi was the hero in the Eding FC and Dragon game as he scored a brace. The 2-2 draw was not well received by the sides. However, watchers were pleased with the quality of football produced as they battled to locate themselves on their pool B table. Yaounde II FC did not make things easy for a Stade Renard of Melong that has been in top form to celebrate their new transportation facility. The sides shared the points in a 1-1 draw.
The Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium in Yaounde was host to the APEJES vs Colombe and Canon vs Tonnierre Kalara Club fixtures. Intermediate Lions Soga Bryan and Man Ykre Dogmo for APEJES and Colombe respectively scored for their sides. Unfortunately for Man Ykre, his side was humbled by APEJES 2-1. The highly publicised second game known for it's historic rivalry between Canon and Tonnierre ended up in a virgin tie. Being the first game broadcast LIVE after the FECAFOOT-CRTV image rights partnership, the absence of a goal failed to complete the great soccer contest.
The game of extremes in Bamenda produced the surprise. YOSA from the foot of the table in pool B caused an upset when they humbled table leaders Panthere Sportive du Nde 4-0. No one saw this coming. Coach Nkabyo Martin's battalion got into the game with a spirit like no other. Agbor Emmanuel will hit the net twice to put his name on the list of brace scorer for day-seven giving YOSA supporters a reason to organise petit parties across the city of Bamenda.
While AS Fortuna still on the driving seat of pool A enjoyed a break, the fixture between bwteen New Stars and Cotonsport has been pushed to a later date.
