The first of four fixtures counting for the quarter finals of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2021 is now known. The fixture was unveiled after the first two eighth final matches played on Sunday 23 January 2022.
The first to clinch a ticket were The Stallions of Burkina Faso who stunned the Panthers of Gabon 7-6 after shootouts. Both sides played 1-1 till the end of prolongation before separating from the 12yard spot.
Tunisia on their part wrestled Nigeria off at the Roumdé Adjia stadium in Garoua. The sides coming from the extremes staged a verible fight worthy of former champions before reaching regular time with a 1-0 score disadvantaged the supper eagles.
The Carthage eagles, 2004 champions with a record seven times quarter finals exit will thus take on the The Stallions with a record last three straight quarter finals qualification.
The sides will clash on Saturday 29 January 2022.
