The Cameroon Journalists' Trade Union (CJTU) North West chapter has reached an understanding with the Yaounde based not-for-profit health facility; Unite For Health Foundation.
The information was made public on Tuesday 3 May 2022 in Bamenda by the President of the trade union Nji Ignatius. While acknowledging institutions and individuals that accompanied his Union during World Press Freedom Day activities, the President announced a significant insurance-like deal reached with Unite For Health Foundation.
"All your members can have 15% discount for all services at our clinic. Unite for Health will pay for delivery fee for female journalists and wives of members who give birth at our clinic. We cover 100% of the cost of delivery." The chapter president said indicating that those where the direct words of the Founder and Promoter of the Foudation Dr Ndansi Elvis.
He added that in the coming days, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be signed to that effect with the civil status details of members. "As we wait for the MOU, I will like to indicate that members of our union can already benefit from this deal with the foundation after justification of membership." Nji said.
The announcement has continued to received loud applause from the journalists and media professionals who attended the event and beyond indicating that the healthcare assistance is of absolute importance.
With this new move, Unite For Health Foundation with a huge team of state trained health professionals will be engaging another pro-life humanitarian action geared towards improving the lives of media professionals.
As part of activities to mark the International Women's Day, the foundation organised a month-long free cancer screening for women. The screening www.hilltopvoices.com gathered covered breast and cervical cancers.
The Bamenda branch of Unite For Health Foundation is located around the Total Nkwen area in Bamenda III Subdivision.
