The June Session of the North West Regional Assembly has not opened this Monday 25 July 2022 as www.hilltopvoices.com has earlier reported.
According to our reported who was at the regional Assembly headquarters at upstation Bamenda in the early hours of Monday, a few uninformed regional councilors who showed up for the opening event were rather re-directed to the office of the Public Independent Conciliator (PIC) for the North West.
According to a report on the Facebook page of the North West Regional Assembly, the Councilors were being directed to the PIC office for an information seminar for members of the house of chiefs and Divisional Representatives who are all part of the Regional Assembly.
www.hilltopvoices.com has gathered that the seminar had as objective, the education of the above mentioned on the role of the PIC and the functioning of his office or institution.
The Regional Assembly President, Prof Fru Angwafo on Friday 22 July 2022 gave a press briefing announcing the start of the session for the 25th with no sign of postponement. It is likely the invitation for the PIC information seminar came only after the press briefing hence emplying an unimaginable humility and submissiveness from the Regional Assembly authorities or over bearing powers of the PIC over the Regional Assembly including the president who is expected to be the second if not the first personality of the regional.
Information which we cannot independently confirm suggest that the June Session of the Regional Assembly may eventually open on Tuesday 26 July 2022.
The session was expected to run for three days but now maybe be reduced to two or extended to the 28th of July 2022.
The session as earlier reported will intensify efforts towards peace and conflict resolution in the North West Region.
