The Fon of Nkwen shall precide over the final of the Royal Tournament for Reconciliation in Douala on Saturday 10 September 2022. HRH Fon Azehfor III who will be accompanied by a huge delegation according palace sources, shall oversee the final match pitting Menteh FC against Mbelewa FC at the CEBEC Hospital Football field in Bonaberi.
For slightly above three weeks, six major quarters of Nkwen that is Membuh, Mbesi, Mbelewa, Menteh, Bayelle and Menda engaged each other in a highly competitive football competition that produced the finalists last Saturday 3 September 2022.
During the semis, Menteh FC showed Membuh FC the way out with a 2-1 defeat. Mbelewa FC clinched the other final ticket after overpowering Menda FC 5-6 during post match penalties. These results setup a classification match fixture between Membuh FC and Menda to be played in the early hours of the final day.
HRH Fon Azehfor III will be expected to deliver a policy speech at the close of the competition which to him is a source of unity for the largest Nkwen community out of home.
Addressing a large crowd at the same venue during the kickoff of the tournament, HRH Fon Azehfor III expressed the wish to have Nkwen sons and daughters in Douala more united and of exemplary character.
The Monarch will be addressing his subjects for the second time in about two weeks. HRH Fon Azehfor III addressed a huge crowd of young people at the Nibung public school field during the final of the Bamenda III Council Inclusive Royal Tournament on Sunday 28 August 2022. He used the event to wish students well as they return to school. He also called on all to work for peace and unity in the Fondom as a way of contributing in the building of the "new Nkwen."
