Board Members of the North West Development Authority (MIDENO) have expressed satisfaction with efforts made by the management of the institution in promoting inclusive development. The Board of Directors made the remarks during the 55th meeting in Bamenda on Thursday 6 July 2023 through the chairperson, North West Governor Lele Lafrique Adolphe Tchoffo Deben.

"The Board equally encourages the support which MIDENO is giving to People With Disabilities in the Region." The Governor said
Speaking earlier while opening the session, the chairperson noted that the 2023 Investment Programme of MIDENO focused among others on the Socio-economic Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
The remarks came following the recent donation of assisting mobility devices including wheelchairs, canes, crutches and income generating material like grinding mill and more by MIDENO to persons with disabilities in the region.
Added to the promotion of inclusive development, the Board of Directors also acknowledged efforts made by the institution in agricultural development with emphasis on seed multiplication and the provision of quality inputs to farmers, road infrastructure development with focus on the rehabilitation of 41.7Km road linking North West and West regions, management of heavy duty road equipment for community impact and to generate internal revenue to leverage subsections from the government, rehabilitation of farm structures and infrastructure amongst others.
According to Governor Lele Lafrique, the institution's ability to realized these projects has been due to the "marked improvement in the security context" in the region "especially in the project intervention areas as compared to the previous years as well as a "strong community engagement in the execution of projects." He noted.
Apart from unanimously adopt the 2022 Management and Administration Accounts of the Authority, the Board members applauded the efforts the Management and staff of MIDENO are making to realize the objectives of the Authority, despite the Financial and Security challenges in the Region.
Governor and his team have also encouraged and appreciated the partnership between MIDENO and the Ministry of Public Works intended to open rural roads in the region and the impact MIDENO created in the region during the Launching of the 2023 Farming Season in Nkambe.
The Board members have however challenged the management to "ensure that projects activities earmarked for the second semester are executed."
On behalf of the management team, the General Manager Cletus Anye Matoya has reaffirmed their commitment to meet up with the expectation of government towards the population.
Created in 1981, MIDENO has the mission to coordinate, supervise and support rural development in the North West Region. The institution has the responsibility to meet the needs of the over 80% of the population involved in agriculture.
