“Nelson Mandela was a great humanist who devoted his life to the struggle for justice and equality. He was also a fervent advocate of blood donation. So a blood donation campaign is a great way of celebrating his memory and perpetuating his legacy by saving lives. Because giving blood is like giving yourself to save the lives of others.” Marie Germaine Ndzie Senior Corporate Affairs Manager at MTN Cameroon said
The event at the esplanade of the Yaounde town hall was attended by the South African High Commissioner to Cameroon His Excellency Mandla Langa, the Mayor of Yaoundé Luc Atangana Messina, the Director General of Blood Transfusion Madame Dora Ngum and a delegation from MTN Cameroon led by Marie Germaine Ndzie.
“As an African company, born in Africa, MTN has in its culture, I would even say in its DNA, the duty of solidarity. Celebrating Mandela Day is therefore a duty. A duty that requires us to standby those in need, to bring them hope, smiles and, above all, lasting solutions. Nelson Mandela showed us the way. We walk in the footsteps of this African giant who inspires us, to pay tribute to him and above all to contribute to the progress of our country and of Africa as a whole.” the Senior Corporate Manager noted explaining why the company got involved in the Nelson Mandela International Day celebration.

“Nelson Mandela International Day is celebrated every year on July 18, the day Nelson Mandela, hero of the fight against racial discrimination and South Africa's first black president, was born. This day is an opportunity to celebrate Mandela's legacy and his commitment to justice, peace and equality. Spending 27 years in prison, he gave his life to help abolish apartheid and bring democracy to his country. He is a model of sacrifice for the well-being of others, who must inspire the generations of today and tomorrow in Cameroon, Africa and the world.” Marie Germaine Ndzie explained
