Councilors of the Bamenda III Council have adopted their 2024 budget at slightly over 717million FCFA. The budget was adopted during a budgetary session of the Council on Wednesday 20 December 2023.
While appreciating the councilors for approving his budget at 100%, Mayor Fongu Cletus Tanwe started that his priorities for 2024 will be on projects that can directly improve on the living conditions of the people of the Bamenda III municipality and beyond where possible.
While announcing the tarring of a new stretch of road within the upper Bayelle area in his continous drive towards improving road infrastructure in the municipality Mayor Fongu noted that making Bamenda III more accessible was a major target for him and his team.
"I am particularly very happy with the tarring of this PMI -New road stretch of road in my constituency. This has been the long cry of my constituents and I am happy the Mayor has approved it for execution in 2024. Road infrastructure development has been a priority for us in Bamenda and we are happy that it is our turn." Councilor Ajinwie Ngufor reacted to www.hilltopvoices.com.
Apart from roads, the municipal Official mentioned projects in the areas of agriculture, education, culture, sports, economic development and infrastructural development he will also be targeting.
He has announced the arrival of more water equipment to raised the water generation capacity in the municipality from 80.000 Littles per hour to over 10.000. The municipal housing project take has also been announced pending the expropriation of the land and eventual payment of indemnified owners.
Despite numerous security challenges and drop in revenue collection faced by the council, the various committees reported a favorable realization of projects for the year just coming to an end.
"Everyone can see the great work Bamenda III is doing." the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam said adding there is need for more sensitization so as to improve on revenue collection and eventually development. Mooh Emile has promised to accompany the council in its development drive.
