The Ministry of Public Works has reported that road works on the Babadjou-Matazem section are nearing completion, with progress reaching 93% as of 15 March 2024. According to a post on the Facebook page of the Ministry, the 17 km route linking Babadjou to Matazem(entrance to Bamenda) has seen substantial advancements, bringing relief to residents and commuters alike.
Detailed reports indicate that earthworks and sub-base construction have been successfully completed along the entire stretch. Furthermore, bituminous-bound graded aggregate base course and bituminous concrete surfacing have been laid over 16.8 km of the road, enhancing its durability and usability. Signing works have also been finalized over 14 km, ensuring clear guidance for road users.
In addition to the main road improvements, related projects have been undertaken to enhance connectivity in the area. These include the development of routes such as Toumaka-Bafenga-Bamekoupere (8.8 km) and Carrefour Peter Madem with a ramp at Entrée Mission Catholique St. Charles Lwanga-Bawa Chefferie (1.3 km). Moreover, a 2x3.5x2.5 box culvert measuring 7 LM long on River Tchi Neuh in Bamendousso is under construction, with significant progress already achieved.
