Popular Nso Roman Catholic Priest Rev Fr Dufe Joseph and Culture Promoter has provided clarification on the recent warning issued to Nso and Cameroonian folklore singer Sheèy Lontùm Yov, addressing the controversy surrounding the use of traditional attire reserved for Senior Nso traditional authority figures.
Fr. Dufe Joseph also known as Fara Wo Milan confirmed the authenticity of the document warning Sheèy Yov, pointing out that the signatory lends credibility to its validity. He emphasized Sheèy Yov's talent and contribution to promoting Nso culture through his music, acknowledging the artist's positive impact.
The priest highlighted the distinction between artistic performance and everyday life, noting that using traditional regalia in a musical show may be perceived differently than in a drama. Fr. The warning to Sheèy Lontum is contained in a a series of pronouncement made public on Friday 22 March 2024 by Ngwerong Nso which is a disciplinary institution within the Nso cultural administration. The pronouncements which The Hilltop Mail has a copy is based on complains received from another institution 'Lav Bàm Ye Wir'.
"Sheèy Lontum yov has been warned to desist from wearing things that are reserved for royalty and special Nso people. Failure to do so, he shall face the consequences from Ngwèrong Nso." The pronouncement reads
