Inhabitants of the Bamenda III Municipality welcomed their long time partners and guests, Karli Heinisch and Gerd Muller, with their characteristic open arms on Sunday, April 28, 2024, as they arrived to embark on another optimization of the Council water scheme.
With a vibrant display of the prestigious Mbanglum dance by enthusiastic youths and quarter leaders, the German engineers were greeted with warmth and appreciation for their pivotal role in enhancing the municipal water infrastructure.
Accompanied by Mayor Fongu Cletus Tanwe, the engineers' safe journey to Bamenda was hailed as a blessing, with Mayor Tanwe expressing profound gratitude to God and the welcoming community. He emphasized the significance of their work, highlighting the communal support witnessed upon their arrival as an indication to the vital importance of optimizing the water scheme.
Over the course of two weeks, Karli Heinisch and Gerd Muller will as usual meticulously examine the sand pump at the water source and implement optimizations for two reservoirs poised to enhance the municipality's water supply system. These improvements aim to extend clean water access to previously underserved areas, bolstering the overall quality and quantity of the water distribution network.
Remarkably, this marks the tenth visit for Karli Heinisch and the ninth for Gerd Muller, underscoring their determination to refining the Bamenda III Council water scheme.
Since the historic moment in September 2015 when clean water flowed for the first time under the auspices of a pioneering German team, including Heinisch and Muller, the council has diligently worked to expand access to potable water through the construction of pumps and reservoirs.
The previous interventions by the German experts resulted in a significant increase in water production, surpassing 60,000 liters per hour. However, Mayor Fongu Cletus has consistently highlighted that the current challenge lies in optimizing water distribution, given the impressive production capacity of the purification plant.
He uses every opportunity that provides itself to reiterate gratitude to partners such as Trinkwasser of Trier City, Germany, and ELIQUO KGN for their continuous support in ensuring clean water access for residents of the Bamenda III Council area, consequently mitigating waterborne diseases.
As the German engineers embark on this mission, anticipation mounts amonsgt the residents for the impact their optimizations will have on the Bamenda III Municipality. This reaffirms the enduring partnership between the Bamenda III Council and their German collaborators in fostering sustainable development and improving quality of life for all those living in the municipality.
Karli Heinisch and Gerd Muller have expressed their joy with the warm welcome they receive every time they visit Bamenda.
