On Friday, April 5, 2024, a somber atmosphere enveloped the St Joseph Metropolitan Cathedral in Big Mankon as Msgr Engelbert Kofon was laid to rest. His burial followed a Requiem Mass presided over by the Archbishop of Bamenda, His Grace Andrew Nkea Fuanya.
The burial marked the culmination of a two-day event that saw a multitude of priests, religious figures, and faithful Christians coming together to honor the life and legacy of Msgr Engelbert Kofon.
Msgr Kofon's journey in service to the Church spanned decades, leaving an indelible mark on the Archdiocese of Bamenda. Prior to his retirement, he served in various parishes within the archdiocese.
His significant contributions extended beyond parish life, as he was appointed Rector of the Saint Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary (STAMS) in Bambui and served as Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Bamenda.
In his well-deserved retirement, Msgr Engelbert Kofon continued to live his faith and compassion, residing at All Saints Parish in Bayelle. However, his earthly journey came to a peaceful close on Thursday, March 28, when he departed this life at the Bamenda Regional Hospital.
As the faithful bid their final farewell to Msgr Engelbert Kofon, they carry with them the memories of a man who exemplified humility, kindness, and devotion to God and His people.
