The funeral programme for late Msgr. Engelbert Kofon has commenced today, April 4, 2024, at the grand St Joseph Metropolitan Cathedral in Mankon.
The solemn proceedings began with the removal of his mortal remains from the St Blaise Catholic Hospital Mortuary in Bamenda, followed by a solemn procession to the Cathedral.
The reception of his mortal remains in front of the Cathedral was marked by the Office of the Dead, led by Priests and Religious, setting a reverent tone for the day.
The first Requiem Mass was presided over by Vicar General Msgr. William Neba, accompanied by fellow clergy members Msgr. Michael Kintang and Msgr. Anthony Viban. Subsequent Masses will be held with the Association of Diocesan Priests (ADP) and parishioners from various communities, showcasing the widespread impact of Msgr. Engelbert Kofon's ministry.
As the funeral programme continues into Friday, April 5, 2024, additional Requiem Masses will be conducted, including a special service with family members and Christians from specific parishes close to Msgr. Engelbert Kofon's heart. The Archbishop of Bamenda, His Grace Andrew Nkea Fuanya, will preside over the final Funeral Mass, offering a fitting tribute tothe former Rector of the Saint Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary (STAMS) Bambui and Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Bamenda.
