Bamenda, Cameroon - In a day of celebration and recognition, Hilltopvoices Communications Group Ltd emerged as a double winner at the CJTU NW 2024 Awards Café, held on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Organized by the Cameroon Journalists' Trade Union (CJTU) North West Chapter as part of the World Press Freedom Day 2024 festivities, the event honoured outstanding contributions to journalism and media.
The first accolade bestowed upon Hilltopvoices Communications Group Ltd was the CJTU-Anye Ndeh Nsoh Memorial Award. This prestigious recognition was awarded for their article titled 'Türkiye Earthquake: Bamenda Amputee Football Club One Month After Death of Teneng Elvis Nkam-Vishow,' published on their news online platform, The Hilltop Mail (www.hilltopvoices.com).
Crafted by Bakah Derick, the piece delves into the narrative of an Amputee Football Club in Bamenda, Cameroon, one year after the tragic loss of their leader during the earthquake in Türkiye. The award received generous gifts from the journalists' union and the Socio-Economic Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SEEPD) Program of the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services (CBCHS).
