Bishop George NKuo of the Diocese of Kumbo has issued an invitation to the clergy, consecrated men and women, and the lay faithful of the Diocese of Kumbo to join in the celebration marking the official erection of three new provinces of the Tertiary Sisters of Saint Francis (T.S.S.F) in Cameroon.
In a letter addressed to the clergy and faithful, Bishop NKuo detailed the historical significance of this event, marking a pivotal moment in the growth and evolution of the congregation. He stated, "As the Cameroon Province has experienced significant growth, the leadership of the Congregation has decided to divide this Province into three new Provinces."
The Tertiary Sisters of Saint Francis, established on September 12, 1700, have played a vital role in the development of the Church in Cameroon. From their humble beginnings with just five sisters settling in Shisong on October 16, 1935, the congregation has flourished and expanded its mission to various regions within Cameroon and beyond.
Reflecting on the congregation's outreach, Bishop NKuo remarked, "New missions have been established in other countries such as the Republic of Central Africa, Nigeria, Congo Kinshasa, Bolivia, etc."
The official erection of the new provinces will be commemorated with a Pontifical High Mass at Saint Theresa's Cathedral in Kumbo on the 31st of May 2024, starting at 10:00 am.
His Lordship Bishop NKuo eagerly anticipates the presence of the faithful, inviting them not only to witness this significant occasion but also to join in prayer for the continued success and blessings upon the Tertiary Sisters of Saint Francis.
