The North West Cooperative Association (NWCA) Ltd has extended a special invitation to journalists in the North West Region to come together and protect the future of coffee and cocoa in the region. The call to action was made by Ngangwa Matthew, Administrator at NWCA Ltd, during the CJTU NW 2024 Awards Café organized by the Cameroon Journalists' Trade Union (CJTU) North West Chapter.
NWCA Ltd Administrator, Mathew Ngangwa addressing the event
Ngangwa emphasized the significant impact that coffee and cocoa have had on the lives of many individuals in the region, particularly in areas such as health and education. He highlighted the efforts of NWCA Ltd in coordinating the sale of coffee from over 35,000 farmers both locally and internationally. The organization has not only focused on packaging and selling but has also ventured into processing, including producing sachets of coffee to allow farmers to consume their own products.
In a strategic move to further support coffee farming, NWCA Ltd plans to engage in large-scale plantain processing, as plantains are known to have benefits for the growth of coffee and cocoa plants. Ngangwa encouraged coffee farmers to consider planting plantains between their coffee plants to enhance their crops.
