SEEPD Program's Manager Encourages Journalists to Prioritize Inclusive Reporting

At the  CJTU NW 2024 Awards Café in Bamenda on Saturday 4 May 2024, Awa Jacques Chirac, Programs Manager of the Socio Economic Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SEEPD) program, emphasized the importance of inclusive reporting for journalists and related media professionals

The appeal came as the Cameroon Journalists' Trade Union North West Chapter recognized six individuals for their outstanding contributions across various reporting categories.

During the awards ceremony, Awa Jacques Chirac highlighted the significance of inclusive reporting, particularly focusing on issues concerning Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), women, and political matters. As part of their commitment to inclusivity, the SEEPD program announced plans to fully fund award categories related to inclusion in 2024, Indicating the program's efforts to advancing the representation of marginalized voices in media.

In addition to honoring the awardees, the SEEPD program provided extra motivation through cash prizes to three of the winners. 

While expressing appreciation for the work of journalists and media professionals, Awa Jacques Chirac encouraged the media fraternity to continue their commitment to unbiased reporting and inclusive storytelling.

 The SEEPD program's initiative signals a significant step towards fostering a more inclusive media environment in the North West Region where diverse perspectives are not only recognized but also celebrated.
