Fung John Ngum, a media professional based in Bamenda, has dedicated his Grass to Grace (G2G) Courageous Men's Award to journalists working in the restive North West Region. The award ceremony took which place on Saturday 13 July 2023, at the Prayer City Event Center, recognized Fung's steadfast courage and dedication in the field of media despite the challenging conditions.
Fung John Ngum's declaration comes at a time when journalists in the North West Region face a lot of danger, including kidnappings and trauma. Despite these adversities, they continue to uphold their professional duties with noticeable engagement. Fung's words during the award ceremony highlighted the resilience and bravery of his peers:
"I want to dedicate this award to media men in this region. We have been kidnapped, we are traumatized, but we have not blinked in what we are doing. There are station managers, Media CEOs, and more. This means what we are doing despite the difficulties, we are being recognized. My wish is that journalists should occupy critical positions in this country."
Fung's call for journalists to be appointed to management positions shines light on the need for experienced media professionals to be at the helm of decision-making processes. He believes that their firsthand experience and understanding of the media landscape can drive positive changes and ensure that the challenges faced by journalists are adequately addressed.

The Grass to Grace (G2G) Courageous Men's Award is a prestigious accolade presented for Humanitarian work achieved in the community. The award honours individuals who have demonstrated exceptional courage and commitment in their respective fields. Fung John Ngum, who also serves as the Service Manager at Bamenda Regional Hospital, was one of 15 laureates recognized for their contributions to making Cameroon a better place.
Fung's recognition included several honors: a prestigious gold medal as an Agent of Change, a necklace band symbolizing greatness, a personalized award distinguishing him as a courageous personality, and a beautifully framed award certificate endorsed by the United Nations CISRI-Cameroon.
The Humanitarian Medal and Awards, now in its fourth season, was created in 2012 to honor and celebrate nation builders who have made significant contributions to society. The organization also empowers 500 internally displaced persons, orphans, widows, and handicapped persons annually.
