Transport fares from Mbengwi to Bamenda halved as public transportation resumes

Transport fares from Mbengwi to Bamenda have been slashed in half from 2000 FCFA to 1000 FCFA. This information circulated publicly early this morning as regular public transportation resumed on this route after a suspension of over 17 months.

Reports from the Mbon motor park confirm that vehicles have been loading and departing for Bamenda without any interference from non state armed groups, which had previously declared the road blocked. The resumption of transport services brings relief for travelers who have endured prolonged disruptions.

Prior to the reopening, the Nitop community at the entrance to Bamenda undertook a thorough cleaning of the roadsides on Monday, July 15, preparing the way for smooth transit.
For the past 17 months, travelers between Mbengwi and Bamenda were forced to take arduous detours through Bali village, with transportation costs soaring to over 5000 FCFA. The restoration of the direct route and the reduction in fare prices from the usual 2000FCFA before the blocking are expected to significantly ease the burden on commuters and improve connectivity in the region.
