Honourees shine at Hilltopvoices Thank You Cocktail 2024

The Hilltopvoices Thank You Cocktail 2024 on Friday 17 January 2025 in Bamenda celebrated individuals and organisations whose dedication to community service has left a lasting impact on Bamenda III Municipality. Honourees were recognised for their contributions to education, culture, media, development and more
Unlike typical award ceremonies, the event presented honours, a deliberate choice explained by Hilltopvoices Administrator Bakah Derick.

“We give honours, not awards, because we celebrate the spirit of service and sacrifice. These are not trophies for moments of glory but acknowledgements of lives dedicated to making a difference,” he explained.

The honourees represented a cross-section of the community, from educators, politicians, civil society actors to corporate partners and traditional leaders.
One of the day’s highlights was a presentation by journalist Ngong Song Jean Marie, who explored the role of media in community building. He urged stakeholders to use media as a tool for empowerment and storytelling.
In his remarks, Bakah left the audience with an inspiring message.

“The honourees tonight remind us that greatness lies in serving others. Let their stories inspire us all to build a stronger, more united Bamenda III Municipality.”
