Media Icon, Choves Loh honoured for mentorship, driving inclusive development in Bamenda III

With a career spanning nearly four decades, Choves Loh has solidified his place as a pioneering media professional and a champion of inclusive development in the Bamenda III Municipality. Recognised during the Hilltopvoices Thank You Cocktail 2024 as one of the Most Influential Personalities in Bamenda III, Choves Loh’s remarkable contributions to journalism and community development continue to inspire generations.

After 38 years of exemplary service with the Cameroon Tribune, where he retired in December 2022 as Chief Permanent Correspondent and Head of Agency for SOPECAM Bamenda, Choves has remained an influential figure in media and beyond. His distinguished career saw him cover major global events in sports and politics, including a memorable visit to the White House during President Barack Obama’s tenure.

Post-retirement, Choves founded The NEWS, a tabloid focused on solutions-driven journalism that highlights community achievements and tackles pressing issues in Bamenda, the North West Region and beyond. As a respected panellist on CRTV North West’s flagship programme, Press Forum, Choves continues to shape public discourse with his insightful analysis and  commitment to truth.


Though a native of Akeh in the Kom Kingdom, Choves has made Nkwen in the Bamenda III Municipality, his home, actively contributing to its development. His efforts have supported the construction of vital infrastructure such as churches and community halls, promoting social cohesion and providing spaces for community growth. Through his media platforms, he celebrates the achievements of the municipality, advocates for good governance, and champions opportunities for young people.

An ardent mentor to future generations, Choves authored Ugly Journalism, a critical guide for aspiring journalists in Bamenda III and beyond. The book emphasises ethics, professionalism, and storytelling, equipping young media professionals to uphold the highest journalistic standards.
