Andiensa Clotilda Waah sworn in as SNWOT General Coordinator, vows to alleviate women, girl's suffering

Andiensa Clotilda Waah has officially taken office as the General Coordinator of the South West/North West Women’s Taskforce (SNWOT), following a solemn oath-taking ceremony in Buea on Saturday, 8 February 2025 during the Annual General Meeting AGM of the coalition. The event was attended by representatives of women-led organisations from across the conflict-affected regions. This is a new dawn for the coalition as it renews its commitment to advancing peace, security, and gender equality.

Speaking to the press after the ceremony, Clotilda expressed gratitude for the trust placed in her leadership and reaffirmed her dedication to the cause. 

"I am very elated to have been elected, and I am taking over this position with a lot of conviction because I do have passion for the work that I do. I am also very confident in the team because of their expertise and their commitment to the work on women, peace, and security," she stated.

As she embarks on her tenure, Clotilda outlined a vision of a transformed North West and South West, where the suffering endured by women and girls over the past eight years is significantly reduced, allowing them to reclaim the lives they had before the onset of the crisis. 


"I have a vision of a North West and South West where the untold sufferings that women and girls have been going through for the past eight years is reduced significantly, such that they can regain the life they were living before the beginning of this crisis," she affirmed.

With over 20 years of experience in non-governmental work focused on women and girls, and four years serving as SNWOT’s North West Regional Coordinator, Clotilda brings a wealth of expertise and dedication to her new role. Her leadership within the coalition has been instrumental in shaping interventions aimed at amplifying women’s voices in peacebuilding, advocating for gender-inclusive policies, and mobilising resources for conflict-affected communities.

Her election has been welcomed by SNWOT’s member organisations, who see in her a leader capable of steering the coalition towards greater impact. Many believe her extensive background in advocacy, community engagement, and peacebuilding will be crucial in strengthening SNWOT’s role in addressing the challenges faced by women and girls in the region.

As Clotilda assumes this new responsibility, she is expected to prioritise strategic leadership, accountability, resource mobilisation, and the expansion of SNWOT’s peacebuilding initiatives. Her tenure is poised to be a defining period for the coalition as it continues to champion the rights and well-being of women and girls in the midst of ongoing conflict.
