Kendely Foundation flags off construction of Njimocho-Mbengwi bridge, announce grading of roads

For years, the absence of a proper bridge in Njimocho quarter, Mbengwi Subdivision, Momo Division, Northwest Region, has posed major challenges to residents. The lack of a safe and reliable crossing has hindered movement, disrupted trade, and made access to essential services difficult, particularly during the rainy season. The affected communities, including Zem, Wumngang, and Njembeng, have long struggled with isolation due to the poor state of infrastructure.

Recognising this critical need, Chief Dr Ndang Kenneth, CEO of Kendely Group of Companies, and his wife, Mafor Dr Mrs Ndang Delphine, through the Kendely Foundation, have taken steps to address the issue.

During an event on Friday 14 February 2025 attended by local authorities, community leaders, and traditional rulers, the foundation stone for the Njimocho Bridge project was laid.

The Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for Momo Division, Fouda Nicaise, led the administrative delegation, emphasising the importance of the project in improving connectivity and promoting development.

The project, valued at over 28 million FCFA, has been warmly welcomed by the people of Mbengwi. The President General of the Mbengwi Cultural and Development Association (MECUDA) expressed gratitude on behalf of the community, reiterating that the bridge will facilitate transport, boost local trade, and enhance access to healthcare and education.

During the ceremony, religious leaders from the Metta Presbytery, led by the Presbyterial Secretary, prayed for blessings upon the Kendely Foundation. Additionally, the eldest woman in Njimocho performed traditional rites, invoking ancestral protection and success for the initiative. The event was also graced by traditional dances and the presence of Metta clan Fons, who commended the philanthropic gesture.

Speaking at the occasion, Chief Dr Ndang Kenneth praised the resilience of the Njimocho community and reaffirmed his commitment to development. He assured the population that the bridge was a fulfilment of a long-standing promise to improve infrastructure in the area. He pledged to oversee the grading of roads connected to the bridge and construct another bridge indicating his dedication to giving back to the community.

The Senior Divisional Officer, Fouda Nicaise, lauded the initiative and urged other Metta elites to emulate such efforts to promote regional development. He emphasised the importance of safeguarding community projects and ensuring their longevity for future generations.

The initiative is expected to bring lasting benefits, improving mobility, enhancing economic activities, and reinforcing social ties across Mbengwi Subdivision.
