Mayor Musa Shey’s recent development drive targets access to portable water, food sufficiency, economic stability, others

Mayor Nfor Musa Shey of Nkambe has reinforced his commitment to community development through a series of impactful initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods, infrastructure, and social cohesion. These efforts reflect his broader vision of a cleaner, healthier, and more self-reliant Nkambe.

Strengthening community bonds during Ramadan

In an uncommon show of solidarity and inclusivity, Mayor Nfor Musa Shey has once again demonstrated his commitment to unity and development in Nkambe. As part of activities marking the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Mayor visited the Nkambe Muslim community, where he not only encouraged the faithful to continue praying for peace, justice, and development but also provided essential fasting items. His stop at the Islamic School demonstrated his dedication to enahncing interfaith harmony and supporting education within the community.

Bringing clean water to Binshua and Saah Villages

Mayor Nfor Musa Shey’s vision of ensuring access to clean drinking water for the people of Nkambe took a major leap forward with the donation of essential construction materials to Binshua and Saah villages. On 12th March 2025, the Mayor led a ceremony in Binshua, where he handed over truckloads of sand and other materials necessary for the water project.

The initiative, a joint partnership between CARITAS, the Nkambe Council, and the Binshua community, mirrors a similar project underway in Saah village.
During his earlier visit to Saah on 5th March 2025, Mayor Nfor Musa Shey was met with an overwhelming show of gratitude from the villagers. With his leadership and collaboration with CARITAS, the long-standing issue of water scarcity in these communities is steadily being addressed.
Reiterating his administration’s commitment to sustainable development, the Mayor revealed that the second phase of the Binshua cattle market construction will commence in 2025. He further encouraged parents to keep sending their children to school and urged the community to maintain the high standards of hygiene under the council’s “Clean Habits, Clean City” initiative.

Investing in Income generation and food security

In a move geared towards long-term economic stability and food sufficiency, the Nkambe Council, in partnership with the Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development (MINADER) and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MINPMEESA), distributed farming inputs to over 500 beneficiaries across various Common Initiative Groups (CIGs) on 7th March 2025.

The Mayor highlighted the importance of this support, stating that empowering farmers with essential resources such as seeds, manure, and farming tools is a more impactful investment than the traditional Women’s Day fabrics. His emphasis on sustainability and self-sufficiency aligns with his broader vision for a resilient and economically independent Nkambe.

Restoring Donga Mantung Community Radio

Beyond infrastructure and agricultural initiatives, Mayor Nfor Musa Shey has been actively working to improve the functionality of Donga Mantung Community Radio (DMCR). On 27th February 2025, he visited the station alongside technicians to assess urgent needs, particularly in light of the prolonged power outage in Donga Mantung, which has persisted for nearly eight years.

Since assuming office five years ago, the Mayor has prioritised the station’s revival by procuring new equipment. His latest commitment involves renovating the aging structure and replacing the five-year-old solar energy system with a new one, ensuring uninterrupted broadcasting and improved information dissemination in the region.

Mayor Nfor Musa Shey’s recent engagements in Nkambe reflect a leadership style rooted in inclusivity, sustainability, and community-driven development.

As Nkambe forges ahead in its development trajectory, the Mayor’s message remains clear: sustainable growth and community well-being are at the heart of his governance.
